Momentous developments

Editor's comment May 2023.

Hello lovely readers! I can't quite believe we are already here delivering our May issue to you, the year is absolutely flying.

In the news, the Government has pledged to invest £645 million in community pharmacy in England over the next two years. This has been described as a "momentous development" by Mark Lyonette, chief executive at the National Pharmacy Association. I do hope that with the right delivery this will enable change, coming straight down from the top, and really be felt by community pharmacy teams working on the ground.

As for a Recognition of Excellence (RoE) Awards update: our entries and nominations are currently with our esteemed panel of judges, who have the unenviable task of choosing some worthy winners. We will be in contact with all entrants shortly to let them know if they will be invited to our Awards lunch on 30 June.

In the magazine this month we bring you a Public Eye piece that delves into herbal medicines, considering the retail benefits of this category. If this is something you find useful and would like to see similar content regarding retail support, please do get in touch.

Finally, as we start to enjoy the lighter evenings and warmer days, I'd just like to ask you to hit pause and to make sure you to stop and smell the roses once in a while. Spring has finally sprung.

I do hope that with the right delivery this will enable change, coming straight down from the top, and really be felt by community pharmacy teams working on the ground.
